contemporary korean art

garden pictures

contemporary museum of korea

yes. i visited yet another museum. this time a contemporary art museum of korea.
i had to take a shuttle bus from the subway stop. after going thru trees and curves, a really beautiful white building appeared. it was so cool to see the building in midst of the mountain.
pretty cool. garden sculptures looked awesome with the mountain background... i stood outside feeling proud of being koreans.
there was a really big metal sculpture resembling human... and it was singing the most peaceful hymn. it was sunny and i was very content.
inside the museum didn't impress me as much... altho there were few pieces that i liked.
so here are the pictures...

leeum

if anyone is planning to visit korea, i highly recommend samsung's private museum, Leeum.

this place is full of really awesome art but the architectural space inside the museum is fantastic for art viewing. i also love the museum guide that senses the art piece in front. you stand in front of an art piece you like and it automatically starts talking about it... very tech. very samsung. too bad i couldn't take pictures inside... but i took some pictures of the metal spider sculpture outside of my favorite artist, Louise bourgeois. it was gigantic.... 3 times bigger than the one i saw at Sao Paulo. nice.

textile quilt museum

while walking i accidently found textile quilt museum... i couldn't resist. i walked in and realize that it was nothing of what i thought... but hey, i dont discriminate museum. i love them all.

while exiting, i saw a doll inside the glass. very interesting....very powerful. very mysterious...

don't you think???

korean market

today after my morning meditation, i took a long trip out to a market place... that specializes in yarns and fabrics... very big and full of life... the street food was everywhere. some of them were little too yucky for my taste, but took pictures anyway... yes it is pig's feet. and nose.

funny buddha

Korean national museum

today i visited Korean national museum. it was huge. it reminded me of gettys museum in LA. it was empty...which made me like it even more. i spent a lot of time around calligraphy section and then some at the buddhist sculpture.

so here are some of my pictures... isn't buddha sculptures just so funny?

i think so.

soy bean paste making 101

today i got to experience making soy bean paste at the temple.

it was really amazing. after cooking the soy bean, they make it into a boxy form and they dry(ferment) it for days. after we tied everything, i took a picture of soybeans waiting for fermenting. it was totally fun.

i sketched around the temple and took pictures too.

i am starting to get used to this place.

it is pretty sweet.

today, i took a trip out to a national museum. and ofcourse, i got lost. instead, i found a war museum. pretty funny. i took some pictures from the garden and head back home.

hiking

today i woke up in korea. i went out for a walk with my dear grandma who seems to walk faster than myself. she's so cool. after a little walk, she went back home and i went for a hiking to a nearest mountain. it was really nice. i was walking up and thinking about what it meant to try to get to the top. it meant that i could go up and lie down and take the most peaceful rest.

loved smelling the air. not bad for a first day.
